In coastal areas, where homes are exposed to saltwater and high humidity, regular exterior painting is crucial to protect against corrosion and deterioration. Neglecting this maintenance can lead to costly repairs and decrease the property’s lifespan. MasterCraft’s 12-Step Process for Exterior Painting is the Key to Our Success

  1. Thoroughly Clean and Pressure Wash (for homes built after 1978): We meticulously pressure wash the entire house, eliminating all dirt, debris, and cobwebs.
  2. Scrape and Sand Loose Paint: We carefully scrape and sand away flaking paint to ensure a smooth surface.
  3. Reset Loose Nails: We securely set any loose nails on the siding trim and eaves unless instructed otherwise.
  4. Prime Bare Areas: We take the time to properly prime bare areas, including metal gutters and downspouts that receive galvanized and rust-inhibitive primers. Stucco and wood surfaces receive suitable primers.
  5. Caulk Windows and Door Frames: We caulk windows and door frames to enhance the paint’s appearance and provide insulation. Please note that caulking may expand or shrink away from the substrate due to weather and temperature, which is not guaranteed. Caulking is considered a maintenance part of the painting process and is not covered by the peeling or flaking guarantee. This does not apply to stucco home windows.
  6. Patch Cracks In Stucco: We patch cracks in Stucco as needed.
  7. Remove and Replace Fixtures: Prior to painting, we carefully remove light fixtures (when possible), address numbers, house racks, etc., and ensure they are placed back in their original positions upon completion.
  8. Patch Cracked Boards: We patch cracks in the facia, siding, trim boards, etc., as needed to provide protection and maintain the integrity of the surfaces.
  9. Protect Windows and Gardens: Before painting, we fully cover all windows and gardens to prevent accidental damage.
  10. Drips, Sags, And Runs: We professionally apply the paint with the correct thickness, ensuring a flawless finish without drips, sags, or runs.
  11. Apply Major Paint Brand: We use renowned paint brands such as Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Behr to guarantee exceptional quality and long-lasting results.
  12. Spotless Clean-Up: We take pride in our immaculate clean-up process, ensuring that all walkways, sidewalks, and unpainted areas are thoroughly cleaned to your satisfaction.

MasterCraft’s 8-Step Process for Interior Painting is the Key to Our Success

  1. Choose your color and finish: Paint color samples are essential to selecting a color you love. Additionally, if your wall has imperfections, use flat or matte finishes rather than semi-gloss or gloss finishes, as they are more forgiving.
  2. Prep the Space: We place a drop cloth on the floor and cover any furniture. Tape off moldings, trim, or baseboards if they are being painted a different color than the walls.
  3. Preparing the Surface: We must prepare the surface properly before starting any painting project. This involves cleaning the walls to remove dirt, dust, and grease. Additionally, any existing paint is scraped off or sanded down to create a smooth and even surface. For example, cracks or holes will be filled with spackle and sanded down to ensure a seamless finish.
  4. Priming the Walls: Priming the walls is an essential step that helps the paint adhere better and provides a uniform base for the topcoat. We apply a high-quality primer evenly to the entire surface, allowing it to dry completely before proceeding to the next step. This ensures the paint will adhere properly and prevent any stains or discoloration from bleeding.
  5. Choosing the Right Paint: We help select the right type and quality of paint, as it is crucial for achieving a professional finish. Choosing a paint specifically designed for interior walls is recommended, as they are formulated to withstand wear and tear. Additionally, considering the desired finish, such as matte, satin, or semi-gloss, is important to achieve the desired aesthetic. Investing in high-quality paint will result in a longer-lasting and more visually appealing outcome.
  6. Applying the Paint: When applying the paint, we use proper techniques to ensure an even and smooth finish. We start by cutting in the edges with a brush and carefully painting along the corners, edges, and trim. Then, we use a roller to cover the larger areas, working in small sections at a time. Maintaining a wet edge while painting is crucial to avoid visible brush or roller marks.
  7. Applying a second coat of paint: Once the first coat of paint is dry, we recoat the paint or primer. Multiple thin coats are preferable over a single thick coat, providing better coverage and a more professional finish.
  8. Clean-up: All supplies and any hazardous waste will be properly disposed of. Your home will be cleared of any debris upon completion of the paint job.
